From the moment it was first revealed, it was clear that Sonic Frontiers is quite unlike any of its predecessors. Sonic’s 3D adventures have been more miss than hit throughout the blue hedgehog’s 31-year existence. For every Sonic Generations, there’s been a Sonic Boom or Sonic ’06 leaving behind a bitter taste and further diluting the speedy mascot’s appeal. Each new game has offered some variation on the Sonic formula, hoping to catch lightning in a bottle and finally give the series a consistent direction moving forward, but none have succeeded–at least until now. Through its first three weeks in theaters, Joker: Folie à Deux has taken in $56 million domestically, far below the original Joker film from 2019. Now, Warner Bros. has set a digital debut for the Joker sequel that is less than a month after its theatrical premiere, with a home video release right around the corner.
Folie à Deux will arrive on digital outlets on October 29, which largely foreshadows the end of its theatrical run. The film has already fallen to No. 6 at the box office with $2.18 million last weekend, and it won’t be making much more than that in this country.
